| Robert Pendergrast,
M.D.
Dr.
Pendergrast, a board
certified physician with over 25 years of practice experience,
completed the
Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona in
2005. Unlike other Augusta doctors, his
medical services for patients of all ages are customized for each
individual,
and fall into several broad categories:
· Integrative
Medicine
consults are a
comprehensive health review, resulting in a printed summary document
addressing
solutions to illness as well as health and wellness promotion. These
begin with
a one hour office consult, include professional time to review medical
data and
synthesize recommendations, and are completed with a 30 minute
appointment to
initiate the recommended path to health.
· Focused
consults can
address specific health
concerns such as how holistic medicine choices can be effective
complements to
conventional medicine; these appointments are 30 minutes in length.
· Clinical
hypnosis
appointments can address
chronic pain or other difficult medical conditions for which the power
of the
mind-body connection is needed. These
are normally 60 minute appointments (children sometimes shorter) and
include a
digital recording of the hypnosis session for playback and use at home. Hypnotherapy can
address headaches, abdominal
pain, anxiety, sleep disorders, fatigue,
children’s bedwetting, asthma, and provide support during
treatment for serious
illness such as cancer or auto-immune disease. Listen to Dr. Pendergrast's introduction to clinical hypnosis on the player below.
· Healing
Touch
appointments provide a deeply
relaxing healing session which restore a sense of balance and flow in
mind,
body, and spirit. Healing
Touch is an
energy healing modality in the category of “biofield
therapies” identified by
the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM)
of the
National Institutes of Health (NIH). Specific
information about Healing
Touch, its philosophy and practice
can be found at Healing
Touch International.
Dr.
Pendergrast's medical approach
always starts with the
most natural, least invasive, least expensive, least toxic options. His
training in nutritional medicine, herbal
medicine, mind-body and energy therapies make this approach possible,
while
still frequently utilizing conventional laboratory testing and
prescription medications
when necessary. He
is licensed to
practice medicine in Georgia and South Carolina, and is on the staff of
the
Medical College of Georgia hospital and clinics and the Aiken Regional
Medical
Center. He
is certified by the American
Board of Pediatrics and
the American
Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He
provides consultative care to patients of all ages at the North Augusta
office,
with the expectation that patients have a primary care physician
already
providing care.
